Trek to Kilimanjaro 2022
Hassan Ghaffar joined our hospitals in the summer of 2021 as a Psychiatric Nurse Specialist at Harefield Hospital and was immediately impressed.
“In all honesty, it was quite overwhelming but equally has been nothing short of extraordinary and awe inspiring. Being able to witness and work closely on several patient journeys with pioneers in their fields; from severe illness to heart/lung transplantation to recovery. Patients gaining a new lease of life.
“Something that has stood out for me in the healthcare sector is the sense of community and camaraderie. There is nothing greater than a community who unites everyone.
“Irrespective of background through opportunity, collaboration and a sense of belongingness. This is the sense I get from Harefield” says Hassan.
To celebrate and pay tribute to the amazing team at Harefield, Hassan embarked on an 8-day trek to Kilimanjaro in January 2022, reaching its 5985m (19,341ft) summit.
He decided to fundraise via the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity, to recognise the tireless work of all staff, clinical and non-clinical, forever committed to delivering high quality care for patients and relatives.
You can click here to find out more and contribute to his fundraising efforts. All the proceeds will go to the Transplant Unit at Harefield Hospital.
Congratulations and thank you Hassan!
