What these terms cover
These are the terms and conditions which will cover your membership of the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals (RB&HH) Alumni Network.
Why you should read them
Please read these terms before you submit your application form to us. These terms tell you how we will provide the RB&HH Alumni Network, your role within it and also how you and/or we may end your membership.

How we may contact you
If we have to contact you we will do so by telephone or by writing to you at the email address or postal address you provided to us in your application form to which these terms are appended. If the contact details you have listed in the application form change please do let us know as soon as possible in writing so that we can update our records. Failure to do this may result in us not receiving the benefits of the RB&HH Alumni Network as set out below.
“Writing” includes emails. When we use the words “writing” or “written” in these terms, this includes emails.
Our agreement with you
How we will accept your application
Our acceptance of your application to become a member will take place when we email you to accept it [at which point a contract will come into existence between you and us].
If we are unable to accept your application, we will inform you of this by email. A minimum employment term of 12 months is usually required. The RB&HH Alumni Network is a voluntary network run by RB&HH and we are entitled to accept and refuse membership applications for any reason in our sole discretion. However, in running the RB&HH Alumni Network and assessing applications and membership issues we will have due regard to our hospitals values (as set out on the RB&HH website) and the [RB&HH Alumni Network Equality and Diversity Policy/Hospitals policies in respect of Equality and Diversity].
Upon becoming a member
We welcome your support and look forward to your positive engagement within the RB&HH Alumni Network. As a member you acknowledge that:
- the RB&HH Alumni Network expects all members to act in accordance with the RB&HH values (particularly those in relation to inclusiveness and respect);
- you are not authorised to make or enter into any commitments for or on behalf of the RB&HH Alumni Network and that you will make no representations or act or hold yourself out as an agent or a representative of RB&HH Alumni Network unless expressly authorised to do so.

Should you have any concerns or questions in relation to your engagement with the RB&HH Alumni Network you can raise them with the Alumni Network Relations team, email alumni@rbht.nhs.uk.

We are delighted to receive applications for membership from alumni both based within and outside the UK.
RB&HH Alumni Network Benefits
Benefits for RB&HH Alumni Network members
We will provide a number of offerings to our members which may include the following:
- Connected Newsletter – A regular e-newsletter containing updates and news on the RB&HH Alumni Network [and contributions from the members].
- Website: This will include Alumni Network Benefits, job opportunities, News, Alumni Networking and selected alumni spotlight stories, events and seminar updates, keep connected opportunities, international alumni information, connected newsletter, FAQs and terms and conditions.
- Alumni Network promotional brochure
- Events, seminars, training and education. This will include invitations to RB&HH-wide sessions and also tailored sessions specifically for RB&HH Alumni Network members.
Reasons we may cancel or suspend the delivery of benefits to you
From time to time we may have to cancel or suspend our provision of the benefits set out above for example:
- to deal with technical or operational problems; or
- to update the information to ensure it is accurate at the point of distribution; or
- for other reasons outside of our control such as the impacts of Coronavirus, a third-party speaker cancelling a training session or an issue with a venue for an event.
Membership is free
We will not charge you for membership of the RB&HH Alumni Network. [On occasion there may be charges for specific events or activities but we will endeavour to keep these to a minimum and will notify you in advance that any such charges might apply.]
Our rights to make changes
We may change the RB&HH Alumni Network. This may be in relation to its structure, the way in which it is run and/ or the benefits it offers. We may decide to do this for any reason including to align with applicable rules and regulations and also to align with RB&HH’s strategic direction. We will provide advance notice to members of any substantial changes where this is practical.
Ending your membership
You can end your membership of the RB&HH Alumni Network. This can be for any reason and at any time. If you would like to do this please write to us at alumni@rbht.nhs.uk
We may end your membership of the RB&HH Alumni Network. We have the right to do this at any time for any reason (but any such step will be taken in line with RB&HH values [and you will have an opportunity to provide any written correspondence to us before such a decision is taken]). [In the event your membership is ended there will be no right of appeal to any decision taken by the RB&HH Alumni Network to end your membership.]
How we may use your personal information
We take our data protection obligations seriously. Your membership and participation in the RB&HH Alumni Network is subject to our privacy policy. Our privacy policy sets out how we will collect, use and process your personal information in accordance with data protection legislation. We may update this at any time and will notify you of any substantial updates.
We collect personal information through your registration for the RB&HH Alumni Network, our RB&HH Alumni Network website, requests for your alumni input and registration for events and seminars. We collect personal information such as your name, contact details, your current employment status, details of your time with us and your professional qualifications.
We use this information to customise the content we deliver to you through our newsletters, on our RB&HH Alumni Network website, to connect you with other alumni and to contact you about our RB&HH Alumni Network seminars and events.
